Integration from the Viewpoint of Administrators and Authors

Use

The following sections describe the various scenarios for integration of SAP BW 3.5 and SAP EP 6.0 from the viewpoint of administrators and authors of BW content.

The explanations contain technical information that will make it easier for administrators to understand and make the necessary settings. The prerequisites given in Structure linkSettings in SAP BW 3.5 and SAP EP 6.0 refer to the respective scenarios.

For authors of BW content, the following sections contain the technical information required to implement the options described in Integration from the User’s Viewpoint.

Features

Content from SAP BW can be displayed in the Enterprise Portal in various ways. BEx Web applications can be included as iViews, precalculated documents or as links in the portal. Furthermore, you can display BW workbooks and BW documents in the portal. You can find more information under Displaying Content from SAP BW in the Enterprise Portal.

You can call these BW objects using portal roles or with KM folders in the portal. For more information, see Calling Content from SAP BW in the Enterprise Portal.

Various tools support you in generating BW objects in the portal and integrating them into it. For more information, see Generating Content from SAP BW for the Enterprise Portal.

Note

The integration of SAP BW and SAP EP requires knowledge in both SAP BW 3.5 and SAP EP 6.0. Both products are components of SAP NetWeaver. To make the necessary settings, close cooperation between administrators of SAP BW and SAP EP is necessary. Due to the inclusion of content from SAP BW in the Enterprise Portal, cooperation between the responsible authors in SAP BW and SAP EP is also necessary.

For an overview of your options for integrating BI content into the Enterprise Portal, see Overview: Integration- and Display Types of BW Content in the Portal.
